DeveloperHiring

Privacy policy

This policy explains how the developerhiring.com service handles personal data of the companies that use it and of the developer candidates they evaluate. It is written in plain language. If anything is unclear, write to [email protected].

Who is responsible for your data

The administrator of the developerhiring.com service is responsible for personal data of people who visit the site, create an account or buy a plan. You can reach the administrator at [email protected].

When a company uses DeveloperHiring to evaluate candidates, that company is the controller of the candidate data, and the administrator of the developerhiring.com service processes it on the company's behalf under a data processing agreement. Candidates can still contact us directly, and we help them use their rights.

What data we collect

Customers and team members

  • Account data: name, email address, password (stored as a hash), company name and team role.
  • Billing data: plan, billing period, invoices and the last digits and expiry of the payment card. Full card numbers are handled by our payment operator and never reach our servers.
  • Usage data: roles you create, actions in the product, sign-in times and technical logs such as IP address and browser type.
  • Messages you send to support.

Candidates

  • Contact and profile data: name, email address, location, links to public profiles, and the CV you or the company provide.
  • Public professional data: information you published on public code hosting profiles and other public developer profiles, such as repositories and contributions.
  • Assessment data: screening answers, code submissions, test results, keystroke and paste events, tab switches and similarity results.
  • Interview data: transcripts of the AI technical interview and rubric scores.
  • Optional data, only with your consent: webcam snapshots during a test, and identity check results (a document and a selfie) when the company uses identity verification.
  • Contact preferences, including opt-outs.

Visitors

When you try the demo on the home page, we store the role description you enter and a pseudonymous session identifier, so the result can be shown and saved to your account later. We keep technical server logs for security.

Why we use the data and on what legal basis

  • To provide the service to customers under the contract (terms of service).
  • To run hiring pipelines for companies, who rely on their legitimate interest in hiring, or on your consent where the law requires it.
  • To contact candidates about roles, based on the company's legitimate interest, with an opt-out in every message.
  • To bill and keep records, based on legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, based on our legitimate interest.
  • Optional webcam snapshots and identity checks, based on your consent, which you can withdraw.

How AI is used

The service uses AI to extract skills from role descriptions, score CVs and public code against a skill matrix, score screening answers and run a text-based technical interview. AI scoring never sees name, photo, age or gender. Every AI score comes with a written reason. AI results support the hiring team and never make the decision on their own. Candidates are told which stages use AI before they start, and they can ask for a human review of any AI score. Read more on our page for candidates.

Personal data is not used to train AI models.

Who receives the data

We share data only as needed to run the service, with these categories of recipients:

  • The company you applied to or that evaluated you, and its team members.
  • A hosting and infrastructure provider in the European Union.
  • A transactional email provider for invites, codes and notifications.
  • A payment operator for subscriptions and invoices.
  • An AI model provider for text processing, under contract and without training on the data.
  • A code execution environment for running test submissions.
  • An identity verification provider, only for identity checks on the Scale plan and only with consent.
  • Public authorities, when the law requires it.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Data is stored in the European Union. If a provider needs access from outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

  • Candidate data: for the retention period the company sets, 12 months by default, then it is deleted. Candidates can delete it sooner.
  • Customer account data: while the account is active, and up to 30 days after it is closed.
  • Billing records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Opt-out records: kept as a hashed email address so we can respect your choice.
  • Server logs: for a short period needed for security.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access your data, get a copy in a machine-readable format, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right not to be subject to a decision based only on automated processing, and DeveloperHiring never makes hiring decisions that way.

Candidates can export or delete their data and request human review in the candidate portal, linked in every email about an application. Anyone can also write to [email protected]. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

The site uses only cookies that are needed for it to work: a session cookie, a security token for forms, and a cookie that remembers your sign-in if you choose that. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, so there is no cookie banner.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, candidate code runs in an isolated sandbox, and access to production data is limited and logged. Read more on the security page.

Children

The service is for businesses and professional candidates. It is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data in an important way, we will tell customers by email and update this page.
